The main role of the Social Worker is to advocate for the Resident and their loves one’s wishes and to provide psycho –social – emotional – spiritual support during times of transition or loss. The social worker is involved at all phases of residency – pre admission, admission, residency, discharge or transfer, and end of life planning.

The Social Worker can help Residents access resources and services and can assist with medical and financial decision-making. The Social Worker coordinates with other staff such as nursing, dietary and recreation to help ensure Resident care is well coordinated. The Social Worker can also facilitate communication between Residents, their loved ones and staff.

RECREATION

The Recreation Department works to provide scheduled activity programs with therapeutic values that are compatible to our residents’ interest, needs and abilities. Therapeutic Recreation programs are offered seven days a week at Central City Lodge and five days a week at Cooper Place. Our calendars reflect a balance of emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual, creative and social properties. We believe that in facilitating therapeutic programming and meeting our residents’ needs, we create an environment in which quality of life will flourish.

Our qualified recreation staff assess each residents’ recreation and leisure interests and develop individualized care plans to best meet their needs.
